Graduation and Convocation
Convocation is a time to celebrate your achievements with classmates, instructors, family, and friends. It’s your moment to reflect on your journey and be recognized for your hard work and dedication. Congratulations—we are so proud of you, and we hope you enjoy every moment of your special day!
Date: Friday, June 13, 2025
Time: 2:00 to 4:00 pm
Location: Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, 1 Paul Shaffer Drive, Thunder Bay
Reception: Following the ceremony, graduates and guests are to attend a complimentary reception located in the foyer of the Community Auditorium
Arrival Instructions
- Graduates should arrive one hour before the ceremony begins (by 1:00 PM).
- Upon arrival, proceed to the registration table inside the Community Auditorium.
- Seating for graduates will begin 10 minutes before the ceremony (at 1:50 PM).
- RSVP is required – please ensure you confirm your attendance in advance.
What to Wear & Bring
- Regalia can get warm under the lights and excitement—light, breathable clothing is recommended.
- Leave all bags, valuables, and personal items with your family, friends, or supporters. You will not return to the same seat after crossing the stage, and items cannot be left at your seat.
Before the Ceremony
- Head to your Marshalling Area after registering. Be there at least 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
- Staff and Marshals will be available to assist you, including helping you properly wear your academic hood—a symbol of your credential that drapes around your neck and down your back. Hoods will not be pinned.
- If you’re unsure of anything—just ask! Our team is here to help.
Processional
- Once lined up, Marshals will guide you into the Auditorium and to your seats.
- As a reminder, the ceremony is being recorded and live-streamed, so don’t forget to smile for the cameras!
- Please note: you may not return to the same seat after crossing the stage.
The Ceremony
- The ceremony starts promptly at 2:00 PM.
- Marshals will direct you to the stage area during the Recognition of Graduates.
- You’ll walk behind the podium and hand your Platform Card to the Name Reader.
- As your name is announced, you’ll nod to President Lorrie Deschamps, then pause for a professional photograph (no handshaking).
- After crossing the stage, you’ll head behind the curtain to receive your Alumni scarf and pin.
- You’ll then be guided back to a seat for the remainder of the ceremony.
Recessional
At the end of the ceremony, the drum group will lead the Stage Party, staff, and graduates in a formal recessional.
Reception
Following the ceremony, please join us in the foyer of the Community Auditorium for a complimentary reception with light refreshments, photo opportunities, and time to mingle with fellow graduates, family, and friends.
